A short history of Violet Audio digital mixers
Violet Audio is an Australian brand with an earlier life in Dolby and DTS processors and digital patch bays, reactivated to carry a new generation of professional audio products. The effort is led by touring engineer and electronics designer Daniel Olesh, who founded SM Pro Audio in 2000 — a company later acquired by Harman, with technology that fed into Soundcraft, dbx and AKG products.
The dMix 128 is a networked digital mixing system built on a current-generation FPGA architecture, offering up to 128 channels and 88 buses at 96 kHz with sub-millisecond round-trip latency. It was developed by an engineering team spread across Australia, Singapore and Brazil, and began shipping in 2026 through selected international distributors.
