PreSonus built the StudioLive line around the idea that a live console should also be a multitrack recorder — and Series III consoles still ship that way.

A short history of PreSonus digital mixers
PreSonus was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1995, initially around studio preamps and dynamics processors. Its move into mixing came from the studio side rather than the touring side, and that shows in the product: StudioLive consoles have always been designed to record every channel to a computer, or later to an SD card, without extra hardware.
StudioLive AI established the pattern; Series III, from 2016, rebuilt it on a new engine with a touchscreen, deeper DSP and AVB networking. The current range spans the StudioLive 16, 24 and 32 desks, the S/SC/SX variants, the rack-mount 16R, 24R and 32R, and the newer SE models. Studio One integration means a live capture arrives in a DAW session already laid out.
Fender Musical Instruments Corporation acquired PreSonus in 2021. Firmware and Universal Control software continue to be released regularly, and PreSonus hosts its firmware files on Fender's CDN rather than behind a login — which is why this archive is able to mirror them in full.
How PreSonus ships firmware
StudioLive firmware is normally pushed by Universal Control, which means the standalone files are easy to lose track of. Series III desks and their rack siblings must be kept on compatible versions when they are stage-boxed together, so having the exact prior release available is not a nicety.
