Background

A short history of Mackie digital mixers

Greg Mackie founded Mackie Designs in Woodinville, Washington in 1988. The CR-1604 compact analogue mixer became a fixture in project studios through the 1990s, and Mackie's reputation was built on making semi-pro gear that behaved like pro gear. The brand is now part of LOUD Audio, which also owns EAW and Martin Audio.

The DL1608, launched in 2012, was an unusually clean idea: a 16-channel digital mixer whose entire control surface is an iPad that docks into the chassis. Undock it and you are mixing from the room over Wi-Fi; dock it and the mixer keeps running regardless. The DL32R, DL16S, DL32S and the newer SE models extended the range into rack formats with more I/O and multitrack recording.

Because the surface is the app, Mackie ships DL updates through Master Fader rather than as standalone firmware images — the app carries the firmware and flashes the mixer when they no longer match.

How Mackie ships firmware

There is no standalone DL firmware file to mirror: the Master Fader app contains it, and the mixer is updated from the app. These pages link straight to Mackie's official download rather than pretending to host a file we cannot legitimately serve.
